Don’t embrace the chaos. Contain it.

Contained Chaos creates inviting, functional play spaces that encourage learning and language through meaningful play.

Kids learn from play, but first they must learn to play. Any space in a home can become a play space.

Dedicated Play Rooms

Do you have an entire room to devote to a playroom? AMAZING! This room can be anything from an extra room in the basement, a room on the main level, or even a loft/attic space.  Have a dining room or formal living room that barely gets used? Why not repurpose it as a playroom? We love utilizing basements for play requiring more space, where kids can run around and learn through movement, as well as creative play with larger toys. Playrooms on the main floor of the house work perfectly as rooms where more pretend play and calmer play will take place.

Shared Play Spaces

Not all play spaces need to be a dedicated room! We are happy to creatively turn part of your family room, kitchen, main basement area, outdoor space, or even part of your home office into a functional play space.

Learning & Art Spaces

Have a space you want to dedicate to creative learning? We love creating art, game, and learning rooms. It’s important to keep these areas calm and organized so even the youngest artists and learners will feel inspired.

ABOUT MELISSA

I have two very active boys, Cole (10) and Blake (7), as well as my husband, who also can’t seem to sit still. Before my role as mommy, my main role was as a speech-language-pathologist with a background as an in-home/in childcare SLP, primarily for children birth to five. While it was never the original plan, I became a stay-at-home-mom for several years. As the years went by and my kids grew, I found myself giving advice to friends about their toys and play spaces, so along came Contained Chaos. Between my background as an SLP and countless playdates with my boys at friends’ houses, I have seen A LOT of play spaces in both homes and child-care centers! Because of this, I understand the connection between organization and fostering a functional play environment. The benefit of working with me is that I not only organize your child's toys/books/activities into a more visually appealing and neater space, but I take time to understand your goals. I set-up spaces into developmentally-appropriate "zones" that foster a play-based learning environment that makes the whole family happy.

My Mission:
My goal is to create play spaces that are inviting and inspiring and to never hide toys as it’s so important for kids to be able to see and access their toys. I am passionate about high quality toys (bye-bye toys with lights and sounds) that allow for language and learning opportunities and am always happy to share these ideas with families. I can also help you refresh your play spaces as your child transitions from baby to toddler to kid in a way that is developmentally appropriate. Feeling uninspired in your play space? I’ll help design a space that the whole family is happy to hang out in. I can’t wait to share my ideas for all things design, organization and play!
